Image Juggling with Fimg 2 05-06-09 05:25:15
There’s a new version of the Fimg 2 tool over at Inside 3D from FrikaC that offers up more features for this Quake image handling application. Head on over to Inside 3D for the download of this tool for all your texture needs. Here’s the word right from the source:
FrikaC has released a new version of the excellent Quake image-handling app, Fimg 2. Think of this as a more up to date version of what you would see with Adquedit, Wally or Texmex, particularly useful for things like texture wad manipulation.

If you own a Xbox 360 and want to take a stroll down memory lane, you can now download Wolfenstein 3D from Xbox Arcade. This allows you to become B.J. Blazkowicz from the classic ground breaking game that gave birth to the first-person shooter genre. Oh, it will cost you 400 MS points, roughly 5 bucks. Enjoy!

New Quake Live map coming this week 03-06-09 20:10:57
New Quake Live map coming this week

6 new maps in 6 weeks!-quakelivejune2.jpg

id Software continues their quest to release six new maps in six weeks for their recently launched free-to-play first person shooter Quake Live. This week marks the third new map to be release and it's actually a remake of a classic Quake III Arena Capture The Flag map, Bloodlust.

The map was originally made by the Threewave team of Michael "Casey" Goodhead and Dave "Zoid" Kirsch and this new Quake Live version has been tweaked a bit for its reappearance. id promises that after two CTF maps for Quake Live in the past two weeks, the new map for next week will be a Duel-centric level.

Update:

As promised, a new level was added to QUAKE Live yesterday and it's the new CTF map, Siberia! Along with the new level comes a small update that states they are still hard at work on the Linux and Mac versions as well as the private servers and leader boards. Two fixes have also been included in this update:

  • Fixes for raw input buffer overflow problems.
  • Fix for mouse 5 button not properly receiving button release messages.

Quake Live Receiving New Maps 19-05-09 16:37:25
The Quake Live website announces that six new maps will be added to the free-to-play, browser-based version of Quake III Arena over the next six weeks, beginning with Hidden Fortress from the Dreamcast conversion:

We're kicking off our "6 new maps in 6 weeks" campaign with Hidden Fortress. Although new to QUAKE LIVE, this arena first appeared in the Sega Dreamcast version of QUAKE III Arena. Already considered the best new arena created for QUAKE III Dreamcast, we chose to make very few changes in bringing this classic map to QUAKE LIVE.

The arena was originally created by Martin Kaai Cluney, a designer for Raster Productions. Kaai is now a designer at id Software working on the RAGE team. Hidden Fortress is a medium sized map with three main rooms - perfect for 6-10 player team deathmatch, clan arena and free for all gameplay.

Although we chose to start with a classic map from the Dreamcast, we'll be debuting a mix of new and classic maps in the weeks to come.
