As we all know, mods are a great thing because mostly you're getting something which the original devs just don't bring. You can get many different kinds of games due to mods and you only payed once for the game.

Conscientious Objector
Always wanted to play a part in an experiment? Here's what the developers say about their mod: Conscientious Objector is an experiment in two parts. Firstly, it attempts to keep all experience of playing a fast, action-packed game like Doom 3 whilst turning the underlying mechanics and politics on their head. In short, in Conscientious Objector, you get the big shotgun but it's only loaded with rubber bullets. You can shoot all you like, but you can't kill anything. Secondly, rather than casting the player as a hero, you get to play the lowest of the low: a convict being used because they are expendable, steered around the environment by an NPC who is not afraid of telling you he's rooting for the zombies.

Descent is a name everyone knows, or at least should have heard of. This mod brings the classic Descent gameplay into Doom III.

While this mod is sadly only in a very early stage, nevertheless it could be a nice experience to walk through a post apocalyptic city in the style of Fallout.

The Dark Mod Thiefs Den Teaser Demo
In The Dark Mod, you play a master thief living in a dark, sprawling city. A blend of gothic architecture and steampunk technology, the city contains great, belching chimneys, grand cathedrals, and medieval manor-houses. As a master of the shadows, you move through the city streets unseen, avoiding the eyes (and blades) of the city's thieves' guild, while doing jobs for the various political factions. Nobles, mages or the Church, it doesn't matter, as long as the pay is good.
